Explore how recreational activities can enhance life quality for all individuals, including those with physical or developmental disabilities, seniors, long-term care patients, and at-risk youth. Waterloo's Therapeutic Recreation (TR) program—one of just three in Ontario—teaches you to create inclusive leisure programs for people of all abilities. You'll also have opportunities to apply your learning through co-op placements in the program's co-op stream. Upon graduation, you'll possess the expertise to create meaningful change. As a recreation therapist, your designed programs could help prevent youth substance abuse, support elderly independence, enhance stroke patients' recovery, and more. Gain practical skills through hands-on coursework, volunteer experiences, and a mandatory fourth-year internship. This program stands out as Ontario's only option offering multiple co-op terms.
