The Master of Laws (LLM) is a one-year graduate program offering advanced legal studies for those who have completed their initial law degree. (Important: This academic program does not fulfill National Committee on Accreditation [NCA] requirements.) Students can choose between a thesis-focused track (with either a substantial or shorter thesis) or a coursework-only path. The extended thesis option caters to law graduates with exceptional research and writing skills in common law systems, while the shorter thesis and coursework alternatives allow specialization in particular legal fields or advanced common law exploration.
Additionally, LLM candidates may apply for one of four specialized concentrations: Business Law, Criminal Law, Health Law, Ethics and Policy, or Legal Theory. Successful applicants in these focus areas will earn a transcript designation. Due to limited availability, admission to each concentration is competitive.
