The JD/Master's in Public Policy program capitalizes on the strong connections between legal studies and public policy, covering areas from economic and social policies to international affairs. By combining these two degrees, students from both the Faculty of Law and the School of Public Policy and Governance gain access to a broader selection of pertinent courses and academic discussions than either program could offer alone. This dual-degree approach enables students to incorporate public policy insights into their legal education while bringing legal perspectives to their policy studies. The joint program allows students to finish both degrees in four years instead of the five required if pursued separately. Candidates must apply and gain admission to each program individually. Both JD and MPP requirements must be fulfilled before either degree is awarded.
If pursued separately, the JD program mandates completing the first-year Law curriculum plus 56 upper-year law credits, while the MPP requires 8.0 full-course equivalents over two years.
