Representing Canada's dual-language and three-part legal framework (civil law, common law, and Indigenous law), while situated in the nation's capital, the Faculty of Law provides advanced degree options including master's and doctoral programs in Law.
The postgraduate legal studies represent a collaborative effort between the Common Law and Civil Law departments. We accept law graduates from both traditions and from international jurisdictions. Instruction is available in English or French, with some courses delivered bilingually. Learners can easily pursue their advanced degrees while gaining exposure to Canada's diverse legal systems and language practices.
These programs are conducted in English and French, occasionally blending both languages. Following University of Ottawa guidelines, assessments, coursework, and final projects or theses may be submitted in either official language. The programs adhere to the standard graduate studies regulations.
