The Department of Spanish & Portuguese provides graduate programs culminating in two degree options: the Master of Arts (MA) and Doctor of Philosophy (PhD). The one-year MA in Spanish serves as either a preparatory degree for future doctoral studies or as a final qualification for careers in education, publishing, government, journalism, literary translation, or non-profit sectors. Graduate students in Spanish are encouraged to actively participate in our department's dynamic academic environment while fulfilling coursework and research requirements. They can also engage with a diverse scholarly community through various working groups, lecture series, graduate conferences, and other enriching academic activities across the university.
