The Social Justice Education graduate program offers multi- and interdisciplinary studies culminating in MA, MEd, EdD, and PhD degrees. Hosted by OISE's Department of Social Justice Education, it equips students with critical insights into education's social, historical, cultural, political, economic, and ethical dimensions. Drawing from humanities and social sciences traditions, the department emphasizes equity-focused, interdisciplinary educational research through lenses like history, philosophy, sociology, and social justice education.
This research-intensive master's program explores education's contextual frameworks and prepares students for academic careers. It suits those wanting to leverage their disciplinary expertise to investigate equity issues in education through diverse theoretical and empirical approaches, incorporating perspectives from history, philosophy, sociology, and political science.
Admission to the MA program requires an appropriate bachelor's degree in a humanities, social science, or cognate discipline from a recognized university, with standing equivalent to a University of Toronto mid-B or better in the final year.
