The Master of Arts in Child Study and Education (MA-CSE) is ideal for individuals passionate about research-based, child-focused teaching methods and inquiry-based learning approaches. Our program certifies graduates to teach from Junior Kindergarten through Grade 6. A background in psychology or research isn't required for admission. We strive to develop caring, reflective, and socially conscious educators who can integrate child development research and theory into their teaching practice to support varied learning needs. Our program encourages educators to critically examine the purpose behind every classroom decision. Teacher candidates develop their professional skills through a blend of academic study, intensive teaching experience, child observation, and exposure to exemplary teaching models in both coursework and practicum settings.
With its focus on inquiry-based learning, student-centered education, and evidence-based practice, this program caters to those with research experience who are interested in both teaching and educational psychology research. Based in OISE's renowned laboratory school, the curriculum enhances both teaching and research capabilities through in-depth child observation, teaching practice, and a substantial research project.
