The Department for the Study of Religion provides Master of Arts and Doctor of Philosophy degree programs focused on religious studies while supporting academic research and publishing in this field. By bringing together diverse faculty expertise and course offerings from across the University's departments and schools, the department empowers students to access all relevant University resources for their religious studies. Approaching the scholarly examination of religion from an interdisciplinary perspective, the department incorporates humanities-based, historical, and social science methodologies. Each student's curriculum is custom-designed to align with their unique academic goals and research interests.
Normally, completion of all requirements of the department's MA program, or a comparable program at another university, with an average of at least A– in coursework and with no individual course falling below B.

International English Language Testing System (IELTS): Required score: 7.0 (Academic) with at least 6.5 for each component.
Internet-Based Test (TOEFL iBT) Including Writing and Speaking Sections: Overall score: 93; Writing: 22; Speaking: 22
Academic English Level 60: Required score: B
Canadian Academic English Language (CAEL) Online: Required score: 70 minimum total with at least 60 in each part.
The Certificate of Proficiency in English (COPE): Required score: 76 minimum total with at least 22 in each component and 32 in writing
Cambridge Assessment English: Required score: minimum 185 overall with at least 176 in each component.
