The Department of History, Classics, and Religion provides comprehensive undergraduate and graduate programs in Classics (encompassing Classical Archaeology), Religious Studies, and History. Classics explores the multifaceted ancient societies of the Mediterranean region, with special emphasis on Greek and Roman civilizations. History examines societal transformations throughout different eras and global regions. Religious Studies involves the analytical investigation of faith systems, rituals, sacred writings, organizations, and faith communities. Our curriculum enhances students' skills in analytical reasoning, innovative problem-solving, and clear verbal and written expression. Each year, our distinguished faculty members educate approximately 9000 students through roughly 200 courses.
The minimum admission requirements are an MA in Religious Studies or the equivalent with an admission GPA of at least 3.3 on the 4- point scale from the University of Alberta, or an equivalent qualification and standing from a recognized institution.
