The Curriculum and Pedagogy (C&P) program serves as a platform for in-depth analysis of educational experiences across formal and informal learning environments. It critically explores content (subjects, courses, degree programs), objectives, and the instructional methods and interactions that facilitate teaching and learning. With faculty members pursuing varied academic interests, the program is structured around seven optional specializations. Doctoral and master's students in C&P concentrations must complete three courses from their chosen emphasis area. Upon fulfilling these requirements as part of their degree, students may obtain a specialization completion certificate.
The Curriculum & Pedagogy Program (C&P) provides a space for rigorous examination of educational experiences in diverse learning contexts. It involves analyzing content (subject areas, academic programs), goals, and instructional approaches that foster learning. The PhD in Curriculum & Pedagogy is available in both traditional full-time and flexible formats. Full-time doctoral candidates have up to six years to finish (typically completing in 4 years), while flexible-time students may take up to eight years (though most graduate sooner).
A master's degree in education from a recognized university with a grade equivalent to a University of Toronto B+ or better and in the same area of specialization as proposed at the doctoral level is required. Further documentation may be required to establish equivalence.
Applicants ordinarily have a minimum of two years' professional experience prior to applying.
