The Master of Music in Music Education provides two adaptable program options (course-focused and thesis-focused) that examine teaching methods and specialized knowledge in music education. The curriculum includes classes covering music instruction, repertoire, teaching techniques, and philosophical, psychological, and sociological aspects of music and its pedagogy. The program aims to help students enhance their expertise, critical thinking, and abilities in teaching, leadership, and musical performance.
Students will engage in courses that broaden their comprehension and practical use of diverse viewpoints in music education. These viewpoints encompass philosophical, psychological, historical, and sociological approaches as they examine key challenges within the field, connecting to both academic and community environments. Additionally, students can join faculty-led research initiatives to develop their investigative abilities and implement theoretical concepts in real-world situations.
