Explore global English literature through diverse critical lenses. Investigate how literary works intersect with political, economic, and intellectual currents. Develop comprehensive writing skills across poetry, fiction, and drama. Engage in literary editing and journal publication. Address contemporary issues through multiple media formats. Hone effective communication techniques. Study theatrical productions at Greystone and Saskatoon's professional venues. Participate in internships with local businesses and community groups. Cultivate creative reading, thinking, and writing practices.
While we use English daily in speech, reading, and writing, few grasp the transformative potential of English studies. By analyzing literature from multiple perspectives, our students not only envision alternative realities and human experiences but also refine their abilities as critical readers, skilled editors, and compelling writers.
In today's job market, exceptional communication skills are in high demand. Educational institutions, corporations, industries, and government agencies actively seek graduates with strong verbal and written abilities. Our English Department equips students with versatile skills for professional success across various fields. Given the communication demands in most careers, English studies naturally enhance specialized training in law, medicine, engineering, education, business, journalism, publishing, and library sciences.
