The Department provides language education from introductory to advanced levels, along with diverse literature courses. Encompassing Francophone studies, Québec and Canadian research, historical and cultural studies from medieval times to today, it also includes classes in cinema, media studies, and translation. Our undergraduate program's robust framework combines essential elements with customizable options. Students are advised to complete their third academic year at a French-speaking university, earning 3-4 Queen's credits. Many participants also get to join intensive summer language programs.

Queen's Department of French Studies delivers comprehensive language training across all proficiency levels and an extensive selection of literature classes. Spanning Francophone world studies, Québec and Canadian research, historical and cultural exploration from medieval periods to contemporary times, the department additionally provides instruction in film/media, translation, and professional French. Learners can gain international experience in French-speaking communities through exchange programs or work-study opportunities in Québec or Europe.
