The Secondary Program trains educators for high school positions. Participants focus on both a primary and secondary teaching specialization to fulfill the certification standards set by Saskatchewan's Professional Teachers Regulatory Board. Throughout the program, the Faculty arranges practical field placements annually while encouraging ongoing exploration and advancement in both the Education Core Curriculum and teaching methodologies.
This teacher preparation initiative strives to equip future educators with comprehensive insights into school dynamics while fostering critically aware participants in educational communities. Through cultivating professional mindsets, knowledge bases, and competencies for teaching in diverse and evolving settings, students gain the flexibility required to tackle contemporary educational obstacles. Program completers gain hands-on experience with progressive teaching approaches, including fair assessment practices; digital-age instruction and participation; and implementing tiered support systems for academic, behavioral, and wellness concerns in educational environments.
