Get ready to instruct one or two specialized subjects for students in Grades 8 through 12 as a secondary educator. This program introduces teaching candidates to adolescent growth and equips them with pedagogical methods for their chosen discipline(s). You'll collaborate with peers in your subject area (such as Mathematics, English, or Physical Education).
UBC's Bachelor of Education degree holds international accreditation and welcomes students from around the world. The Secondary Education pathway trains future teachers in curriculum design, instructional techniques, and core studies with specialization in one or two fields: Arts, Business Studies, Culinary Instruction, Computer Science, ELL Education, English, French, Family Studies, Mathematics, World Languages, Music Instruction, Physical Education, Sciences (Biology, Chemistry, Earth Science, Physics), Social Sciences (History, Geography, and Social Studies), Technical Education, and Drama.
Additionally, UBC provides the exclusive International Baccalaureate Teacher Certification. Graduates who fulfill the Secondary program requirements receive recommendation to the BC Teacher Regulation Branch for professional certification. UBC's BEd qualification is internationally respected, and the program accepts applicants from all countries.
