Our two-year Bachelor of Education program combines teaching, research, and service in a dynamic learning setting. You'll be taught by faculty members who are distinguished educators themselves. During their second year, B.Ed. candidates can gain international teaching experience through overseas placements. Previous students have completed practicums in countries like Norway, Australia, Kenya, Iceland, and Scotland.
The BEd program spans two years after obtaining an undergraduate degree and offers two specialization tracks:
Elementary (primary through grade 6) – Candidates in elementary education need to develop expertise across multiple subject areas to meet the requirements of Nova Scotia's public elementary schools.
Secondary (grades 7 to 12) – Secondary education candidates specialize in at least two subjects commonly offered in Nova Scotia's public high schools (including English, French, Social Studies, Mathematics, Science, Physical Education/Health Education, Gaelic, Spanish, Business, Family Studies, Art, Music, and Drama).
Both tracks offer specialized options in Physical Education and French instruction.
