Students can pursue Biological Sciences as either a major or minor within a Bachelor of Secondary Education program. Key study areas encompass energy and matter dynamics, ecosystem studies, population changes, cellular processes like photosynthesis and respiration, nervous and endocrine system functions, reproductive biology, cell division mechanisms, and genetic/molecular biology principles. This major is also available through a combined Bachelor of Science and Bachelor of Education degree pathway.
This specialized program caters to individuals with existing university qualifications. The duration of the after-degree varies based on transferable credits from prior university studies. Students may complete this after-degree at the University of Alberta or through our Collaborative Off-Campus Program at partner institutions.
A three- or four-year degree from an accredited postsecondary institution
An Admission GPA (AGPA) of at least 2.0, or equivalent, based on the most recent graded and transferable ‚òÖ24. The length of the program will depend on the courses that a student presents at the time of admission. The Secondary After Degree program length will depend on the courses presented at the time of admission.
Mathematics 30-1 and Mathematics 30-2 are not necessary for admission to the Faculty of Education After Degree although Mathematics 30-1 may be a prerequisites for some required courses.
Submission of the Casper test is required to be evaluated for Admission to the program.
