The Institute of the Environment provides a master's degree program in Environmental Sustainability through both a Collaborative Program and an interdisciplinary Master of Science (MSc). The MSc program equips future professionals and researchers with the expertise to address intricate environmental issues through regulatory and policy approaches. Participants will develop core competencies in environmental sustainability across scientific, legal, economic, and policy domains, while mastering interdisciplinary integration techniques to tackle urgent environmental concerns.
Students can choose between two pathways: the thesis-based MSc or the research paper-based MSc. The research paper option allows completion within one year of full-time study, while the thesis option typically requires two years. Those pursuing the research paper may extend their studies by an additional term if necessary to meet program requirements.
Through partnership with the University of Ottawa's CO-OP office, the Institute offers a selective CO-OP program. Eligible students must apply during their initial term. This option enables participants to gain hands-on professional experience through two paid work terms.
