Students are encouraged to break free from conventional academic silos to tackle environmental and sustainability issues with local, national, and global importance. These initiatives offer graduate students diverse environmental education and research opportunities, fostering the development of analytical thinkers equipped to handle urgent concerns related to environmental shifts and sustainable practices.
The MES program, centered around thesis work, equips students with the tools and knowledge to deepen their comprehension of contemporary sustainability issues. Through training in multifaceted problem-solving and sustainability principles, students gain the ability to contribute meaningfully to knowledge creation, dissemination, and policy formation. Participants examine interdisciplinary research by analyzing various scientific, technological, political, societal, economic, and organizational elements that influence environmental and sustainability challenges, their governance, and possible resolutions.
A four-year undergraduate degree, or equivalent, from a recognized college or university in an academic discipline relevant to the proposed field of study, or,
A three-year first cycle undergraduate degree, in an academic discipline relevant to the proposed field of study, from an institution that meets the criteria set forth in the Bologna Declaration, will be acceptable as the equivalent of an undergraduate honours degree.
A cumulative weighted average of at least 70% (USask grade system equivalent) in the last two years of full-time study (e.g. 60 credit units USask equivalent).
Demonstrated ability for independent thought, advanced study, and research.
