The Master of Education (M.Ed.) coursework path offers a curriculum-focused approach to advance your educational expertise, refine professional methodologies, and broaden career prospects.
The Master of Education (M.Ed.) with major-research paper (MRP) track merges academic coursework with specialized research, enabling field specialization and research proficiency while paving the way for doctoral studies.
This program equips educators with tools to strengthen their instructional capabilities, allowing them to supplement their Basic Qualifications with additional certifications acknowledged by the Ontario College of Teachers (OCT).
Educators may pursue Additional Qualification Courses (AQ Courses) to advance their credentials in specific teaching levels or subjects, while Additional Basic Qualification (ABQ) courses focus on deepening understanding of curriculum design, implementation, and evaluation within particular educational divisions.

Qualification Requirements

The requirements for admission listed below are minimum requirements and do not guarantee admission to the program.

Candidates holding an honours bachelor's degree with a minimum overall undergraduate average of 70% (B), may be admitted directly to the master's program, except for the Counselling Psychology concentration (see item 3 below).
Candidates for the concentration in Counselling Psychology (M.A. and M.Ed.) must hold an undergraduate degree in education, psychology, or equivalent. All candidates must also have a minimum of 5 university courses (15 units) in the Social Sciences. A minimum of 3 out of these 5 courses (9 units) must be advanced courses (i.e. 2nd year or higher) in psychology, one of the psychology courses must be a course in personality theories.

Students and the Faculty are bound by conditions that exist at the time of admission and initial enrollment.
All candidates must understand and speak fluently the language of instruction, either French or English.
