Acadia University's Master of Education in Counselling equips you with essential skills for professional counselling roles in educational and clinical environments. This M.Ed. program fulfills the criteria for both the Canadian Certified Counsellor (CCC) credential from the Canadian Counselling and Psychotherapy Association (CCPA) and the Registered Counselling Therapist – Candidate (RCT-C) designation through the Nova Scotia College of Counselling Therapists (NSCCT).
Full-time students typically commence studies in July, completing the non-thesis track within 18 months. Part-time learners start on campus in July and progress through a cohort-based curriculum spanning approximately 3 years. Both pathways feature carefully structured coursework leading to practical training components - including Practicum I (100 hours) and Practicum II (400 hours). Thesis candidates should anticipate extending their program duration to accommodate research requirements.
