The Department of Philosophy provides Master's (both thesis and non-thesis options) and Doctoral programs in Philosophy, available in English or French. In alignment with University guidelines, students can choose to study in either official language.
The Department is involved in joint programs for Women's Studies (MA level), Medieval and Renaissance Studies (MA level), and Canadian Studies (PhD level). Additional details about these programs can be found under "Admission Requirements."
The interdisciplinary Master's in Medieval and Renaissance Studies (MDV) has two primary objectives:
Delivering advanced interdisciplinary education in Medieval and Renaissance Studies;
Equipping students with specialized research methodologies and theoretical frameworks for studying this historical period.
This Medieval and Renaissance Studies specialization allows students to enhance their primary degree with cross-disciplinary studies. Program requirements include a thesis or research paper focused on medieval/Renaissance topics, plus two core MDV courses—one of which fulfills partial requirements for the main discipline.
