The Department of History provides graduate programs culminating in an MA degree, with specializations in Canadian, British imperial, and Iberian history. Key research strengths include gender studies, legal history, environmental studies, and indigenous perspectives. Admission depends on securing a suitable faculty advisor.
The MA program offers two pathways. Thesis candidates take 15 graduate credits plus produce an original 100-page research thesis. Project candidates complete 18 credits alongside a significant applied project.
All admitted students receive a faculty supervisor to guide their academic journey. The MA consists of two elements: coursework and either a thesis or project. Typically, students finish coursework within two terms and complete the entire program in four terms.
