The Department of History provides Master of Arts degree options (both thesis and non-thesis tracks) in History. Depending on faculty availability, students can complete their studies in either English or French.

Graduate students conduct research across various fields aligned with faculty specializations. The master's program also features an optional co-op component.

The Department collaborates with Women's Studies and Medieval/Renaissance Studies programs at the graduate level, enabling specialization in these interdisciplinary fields. Additional information is available in the master's program "Admission Requirements" section.

The joint Medieval and Renaissance Studies (MDV) master's program has dual objectives:

Delivering graduate-level interdisciplinary education in Medieval and Renaissance Studies;
Instructing students in period-specific research methodologies and theoretical frameworks.
This specialization enhances students' primary studies with interdisciplinary Medieval/Renaissance components. Program requirements include either a thesis or major research paper on relevant topics, plus two core MDV courses (one counting toward the primary discipline's requirements).
