Students will develop expertise and gain hands-on experience in the diverse roles of a kinesiologist. This field integrates biomechanics, physiology, and motor behavior principles to enhance movement efficiency, athletic performance, and injury/disease prevention. The curriculum aligns with the Ontario College of Kinesiologists' requirements for becoming a Registered Kinesiologist (R Kin), combining theoretical knowledge with practical application and critical analysis of human movement research.
Learners will master assessment techniques and intervention strategies to optimize physical performance, functional ability, and health outcomes. They'll develop specialized skills in creating exercise programs for both performance enhancement and therapeutic purposes. The program provides training in rehabilitation exercises, ergonomic workplace design, and behavioral coaching methods to promote active lifestyles. Through classroom instruction, lab work, and field placements, students will work with diverse populations across age groups and ability levels, from athletes to rehabilitation patients. These immersive experiences ensure graduates are career-ready in various kinesiology specialties.
