The Aboriginal Community Resource Planning Certificate (ACRP) comprises 10 courses (minimum 30 credits) primarily selected from First Nations Studies and Environmental Planning, with additional options from Geography, Business, Outdoor Recreation and Tourism, and Natural Resources and Environmental Management. First Nations Studies courses equip students with fundamental knowledge about Indigenous communities in Canada, including cultural and linguistic aspects, key challenges, and environmental perspectives. Environmental Planning courses introduce core concepts of traditional planning approaches. Designed for broad applicability, the program ensures skills can be adapted to diverse community contexts and lifelong scenarios.
This certificate serves two key objectives: firstly, to deliver essential training for those engaged in resource planning within First Nations communities, and secondly, to offer flexible university-level education for learners unable to pursue a full four-year degree. Prospective students must consult with a First Nations Studies academic advisor before enrolling in the program.
