Biology explores living organisms and their interactions. At UNB Saint John, Arts students can pursue a Biology major, delving into subjects like botany, ecology, zoology, organic chemistry, and microbiology. This program offers insights into environmental science, sustainable development, and policies related to land and water resources. The Biology major is offered as part of a four-year Bachelor of Arts program.
First-year courses cover foundational topics in organic chemistry, ecology, cellular biology, and laboratory techniques.
Second-year studies expand to include botany, microbiology, zoology, and statistics, with the option to declare a Biology major by year's end. Advanced coursework may involve conservation biology, environmental law, and animal behavior studies. A Biology degree develops skills in analyzing life processes and ecological relationships while fostering critical thinking and problem-solving through hands-on research and analysis.
