The University of Manitoba's Faculty of Social Work has been serving students since 1943. Its Master of Social Work (MSW) program maintains full accreditation and holds international recognition as both a professional and academic credential. The updated MSW curriculum features a shared foundational core along with up to five specialization clusters, incorporating newly created courses and revised existing ones to maintain relevance and alignment with our accrediting body's standards (The Canadian Association for Social Work Education - CASWE). This redesigned framework guarantees students acquire the necessary competencies to satisfy accreditation requirements while preserving opportunities for focused study. Students now enjoy enhanced flexibility in tailoring their academic path to align with personal learning goals. The MSW Program's credit requirements stay consistent, with students still having the choice between completing a thesis or coursework to fulfill degree obligations. The M.S.W. degree can be earned through either a thesis or coursework pathway.
