The University of Manitoba's Faculty of Social Work has been serving students since 1943. Its Master of Social Work (MSW) program maintains full accreditation and holds global recognition as both a professional credential and academic achievement. The updated MSW curriculum features a shared foundational core alongside five specialized clusters, incorporating fresh course offerings and enhanced existing classes to align with current standards set by our accrediting organization (The Canadian Association for Social Work Education - CASWE). This redesigned framework guarantees students acquire essential competencies to satisfy accreditation requirements while preserving opportunities for focused study. Students now enjoy increased flexibility in tailoring their academic path to individual learning goals. The program maintains its original credit hour expectations and continues to offer both thesis and non-thesis completion pathways. The M.S.W. degree can be earned through either a research thesis or coursework-based approach.
