Ecology is an expanding, interdisciplinary science that examines how organisms interact with their surroundings, incorporating knowledge from geology, chemistry, physics, and mathematics. Our researchers study diverse ecological subjects across land and water environments, from how living beings adapt physiologically to shifting conditions to analyzing population structures, community behaviors, and ecosystem functions. Their investigations tackle urgent global challenges like conserving wildlife and habitats, rehabilitating ecosystems, controlling invasive species, and mitigating climate impacts. The scope of our work reaches far beyond Ontario, tackling matters with significance across regions, nations, and the world.
