The Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology provides graduate programs awarding Master of Science and Doctor of Philosophy degrees in Medical Sciences with a focus on Obstetrics and Gynecology.
This graduate program features diverse research opportunities in women's health. Candidates for both MSc and PhD degrees can apply directly to our programs, with the option to simultaneously apply for the competitive Graduate Program in Maternal and Child Health (MatCH) if eligible. Dr. Denise Hemmings, a Professor in the Division of Reproductive Sciences, oversees the Obstetrics & Gynecology Graduate Program.
Many faculty members hold joint appointments with basic science departments such as Physiology, Medical Microbiology & Immunology, and Oncology. Students may pursue MSc or PhD degrees through these departments as well. Our department offers these graduate programs either as components of post-MD training or as standalone degrees for applicants transitioning from undergraduate or Master's programs. Research opportunities span various women's health disciplines from preconception to post-menopause, utilizing department laboratories and clinical facilities. Pregnancy-related studies may involve both male and female offspring, incorporating basic science, epidemiological, and clinical research methods.
