The UFV Field Vegetable Production Essentials certificate consists of 18 credits (six 3-credit courses) and provides a comprehensive foundation in all areas of field vegetable cultivation. The curriculum covers: Introduction to horticulture, Seasonal horticultural techniques for autumn and winter, Pest management basics, Soil science and fertility principles, Vegetable production theory and practice. This credential seamlessly transitions into UFV's Horticulture Crop Production and Protection certificate or Agriculture Technology diploma program. It also serves as valuable continuing education for professionals needing current expertise in vegetable farming.
