UFV's Bachelor of Arts in Child and Youth Care (BA CYC) is a four-year degree program designed to equip you with the expertise needed to work effectively as a child and youth care practitioner. You'll learn to offer meaningful assistance, counseling, and resources to help young individuals and families navigate emotional and behavioral obstacles. The curriculum begins by exploring developmental psychology and relationship-based therapeutic approaches to support youth experiencing social and developmental challenges. With primary classes scheduled during afternoons and evenings, the BA CYC program is ideal for working professionals in social services who want to advance their careers while acquiring immediately applicable skills. During the final two years, students complete two supervised practicum placements totaling 775 hours, allowing hands-on experience with UFV's community partners. These practicums provide mentored learning opportunities under the direction of seasoned practitioners who offer crucial professional insights and evaluation.
