Newly enrolled students begin in either the Human Relations Major or Specialization track. Concentration selection occurs after successfully completing AHSC 270 (Introduction to Human Relations Theory and Research) during the first semester. This foundational course provides comprehensive insight into the various systems underlying the program's concentrations. Students can later switch concentrations through an internal transfer process within the department.
We provide four specialized concentration paths: Individual & Small Group Processes (available as major or specialization), Community Development (major or specialization), Organization Development and Change (major or specialization), and Family Science (specialization only).
Individual & Small Group Processes (major or specialization options)
Effective facilitation can transform personal and professional behaviors while driving meaningful social progress. This concentration emphasizes working with individuals and teams, rooted in developmental psychology and group dynamics. You'll develop core competencies aligned with International Association of Facilitators (IAF) standards, gaining versatile facilitation skills applicable across diverse settings.
