This Master of Education (M.Ed.) program combines the core requirements of all Special Education graduate programs with specialized theory and practical components. The initial 18 months fulfill the qualifications for Interim CAEDHH Certification (Canadian Association of Educators of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing). Full admission is awarded to candidates who: a) have completed prerequisite coursework, b) hold teaching certification, and c) meet sign language proficiency standards. Previous experience working with deaf or hard of hearing individuals is highly valued. Teaching certification is mandatory. Applicants must clearly indicate DEAFNESS on their application. Those lacking prerequisites may still enroll but will need to complete the missing courses during their graduate studies.
