The Urban and Regional Studies (URS) program offers a multidisciplinary educational environment where students explore significant urban challenges and their connections to surrounding regions and rural areas. URS faculty members contribute expertise from diverse fields including Anthropology, Economics, Engineering, Management, Geography, Health Studies, History, Politics, and Sociology. This program enables students to examine critical topics such as cultural place politics, economic growth, wealth disparity, urban renewal and displacement, governance models, housing insecurity, land use disputes, public welfare, economic systems, local history, eco-friendly transit, sustainable urban planning, municipal governance, and the interplay between identity, location, and society. URS research bridges theoretical urban and regional concepts with practical policy applications. Students in this comprehensive program can leverage the expertise, facilities, and cross-disciplinary collaboration available through faculty advisors spanning four academic divisions and eight departments.
