The Graduate Programs in Rehabilitation Sciences (RHSC) is a collaborative initiative between the Department of Occupational Sciences and Occupational Therapy (OSOT) and the Department of Physical Therapy (PT). This doctoral-level program (PhD) fosters advanced research and original investigations in Rehabilitation Sciences. It centers on the field of Rehabilitation Sciences—the study of delivering treatment and education to individuals with temporary or permanent disabilities to help them achieve optimal function, well-being, and meaningful independence.
The program addresses all three aspects of the International Classification of Functioning, Disability and Health (body structure/function, activity, and participation), spanning individual, community, and societal levels. Our faculty lead diverse research initiatives across this broad spectrum.

Within the Graduate Programs in Rehabilitation Sciences, we are committed to providing exceptional learning and research opportunities for occupational therapists, physical therapists, and professionals from related health disciplines. By combining these experiences with PhD thesis work, graduates contribute to advancing rehabilitation science, which seeks to enhance physical, mental, and social well-being for people of all abilities. Our partnerships facilitate a two-way exchange of knowledge between academic, clinical, and community environments.
