The General Science program offers both major and minor options within the Bachelor of Secondary Education degree. Students explore key scientific disciplines including Biology, Chemistry, and Physics. This specialized pathway caters to individuals who have already completed an undergraduate degree. Program duration varies based on transfer credits from prior university studies. Students can complete this after-degree either at the University of Alberta or through our Collaborative Off-Campus Program with partner institutions. Teaching represents more than a profession—it's a vocation. We're committed to shaping educators who will leave lasting impressions as memorable homeroom teachers. Our Faculty of Education's Secondary Education program equips you to inspire grades 7-12 students across various subjects. The program features dual specialization—combining a major and minor—to align with your academic interests and personalize your learning journey. The curriculum incorporates two practical teaching components: a five-week Introductory Professional Term (IPT) and a more intensive nine-week Advanced Professional Term (APT), with instruction typically focused on your major subject area during both terms.
