Journalism focuses on uncovering and sharing truthful, impactful stories. From the beginning of widespread media, journalists have educated audiences and influenced perspectives on global matters. As frontline witnesses to significant events, their reporting helps society comprehend social and political realities.Our curriculum equips students for careers across news and current affairs production. The program blends core competencies in writing, presenting, and content creation while adapting to evolving media trends, offering instruction in podcasting, documentary filmmaking, and online journalism.Intimate, dynamic classes that prioritize direct engagement, dialogue, and critical analysis.
We're New Brunswick's sole English Journalism degree program.
Our instructors are decorated media professionals who maintain active careers as reporters, producers, and analysts.
Annually, STU presents the Dalton Camp Lecture in Journalism, welcoming internationally acclaimed journalists. Previous speakers have featured Nahlah Ayed, Daniel Dale, Stephanie Nolen, Emily Bell, and Nelofer Pazira.
International Applicants - In addition to a high school transcript, international applicants whose primary language is not English must also arrange to have an official copy of their English proficiency scores sent directly to the Admissions Office. 
Adult Learners - Submit a 1–2-page typed letter describing your educational background, work experience, and academic plans. Mature candidates must also submit academic transcripts - e.g. high school, GED if applicable.
Students who meet the following minimum English Language Proficiency scores and the St. Thomas academic admission requirements are eligible for the ESL program -
