The Bachelor of Applied Arts in Journalism is a collaborative degree program between the University of Prince Edward Island and Holland College. Participants gain hands-on journalism training and technical skills (mainly at Holland College) while developing broad academic knowledge, research abilities, and critical thinking through liberal arts courses (primarily at UPEI).
The typical program structure begins with one year at the University, followed by two years in Holland College's Journalism diploma program, concluding with a final university year. This last year often features journalism writing opportunities either on campus or through Holland College connections. Alternative study sequences between institutions are allowed, provided students complete at least five courses (15 semester hours) after obtaining their Holland College diploma.
