The Great Books program explores works by history's most profound and innovative minds. It examines fundamental human questions through diverse materials—both classic and contemporary—to deepen students' understanding of themselves and society. Great Books at STU
In this program, students engage with various disciplines, literary forms, and analytical approaches. The curriculum draws from novels, historical documents, poetry, memoirs, and legal rulings to explore concepts such as liberty, human identity, relationships, and technological impact. Small, discussion-based classes are co-taught by faculty teams to encourage dialogue and present multiple viewpoints. Our Great Books program stands among Canada's rare offerings and uniquely permits students to pursue a major or honors degree in this field.
The co-teaching model in Great Books courses fosters a dynamic, interactive academic setting.
