This program equips graduates to meet the Entry to Practice Competencies and Standards of Practice set by the College of Nurses of Ontario. Upon completion, graduates qualify to take the national licensing exam. Passing this exam grants them Registered Practical Nurse status in Ontario, with the possibility of transferring their credentials to other Canadian provinces.
Eligible students in this program can apply for the Ontario Learn and Stay grant. This financial assistance supports learners in designated priority programs within specific Ontario communities, requiring recipients to work in their study region for a set period after graduation.
Registered Practical Nurses (RPNs) are employed across diverse healthcare environments such as hospitals, rehabilitation centers, long-term care facilities, and specialized areas including pediatric care, mental health services, surgical units, and community health. RPNs find employment opportunities with hospitals, public health organizations, government entities (including correctional facilities and military services), private sector employers, and global health organizations.
