The Master of Education program is built upon two core objectives:
(a) creating an environment for you to explore your professional expertise; and
(b) establishing valuable connections between this expertise and educational research's theoretical foundations.
StFX provides online Master of Education programs in Administration & Policy as well as Curriculum & Instruction. Students can fulfill the MEd requirements through three pathways: coursework, a project-based approach, or thesis research. This degree meets the Nova Scotia Department of Education and Early Childhood Development's standards for advancing teacher certification levels.

Qualification Requirements
For regular admission to the Master of Education program candidates shall normally have
completed a Bachelor of Education degree or its equivalent
earned an average of at least 70 PERCENT in the BEd Program or have placed in the top 25 PERCENT of the BEd graduating class and
completed at least two years of successful teaching before enrolling in the first graduate course
IELTS - 6.5 overall and no lower than 6.0 in each band
TOEFL - 90 iBT and no lower than 20 in each band
Considerable weight will also be given to the references and letter of intent supplied by the applicant as well as successful teaching experience
Individuals who do not possess a Bachelor of Education degree will normally be considered when they have
gained a teaching license equivalent to a Nova Scotia Initial Certificate TC5 or been employed in a teaching capacity for at least two years in a professional school or postsecondary institution
