The Faculty of Education at Lakehead University provides a Master of Education program tailored to align with your professional aspirations and academic pursuits. Our MEd program delivers a distinctive educational experience that engages with contemporary developments in teaching and research. The program features two specialized tracks: Educational Studies and Education for Change.
The Education for Change pathway offers a forward-thinking approach, enabling you to obtain your Master's degree with optional concentrations in Environmental and Sustainability Education (ESE), Indigenous Education (IE), or Social Justice Education (SJE). These can also be paired with a Gender and Women's Studies specialization.
The Educational Studies track allows you to complete your Master's while exploring pedagogical research, theory, and application across diverse learning environments, with additional options to focus on Gerontology or Gender and Women's Studies. Designed for working educators, our flexible MEd program offers Thesis, Portfolio, or Course completion options for both tracks, available through full-time or part-time study. The faculty also houses two Canada Research Chairs (in Environmental Education and Arts Integrated Research), the Centre for Place and Sustainability Studies, the Multi-Data Convergence Laboratory, and publishes the Canadian Journal of Environmental Education.
