The Faculty of Education at Lakehead University provides a Master of Education program tailored to align with your professional aspirations and academic pursuits. Our MEd program delivers a distinctive educational experience that engages with contemporary developments in both teaching and research. The program features two specialized tracks: Educational Studies and Education for Change.
The Education for Change pathway offers a forward-thinking approach, enabling you to complete your Master's degree with optional concentrations in Environmental and Sustainability Education (ESE), Indigenous Education (IE), or Social Justice Education (SJE). These can also be paired with a Gender and Women's Studies specialization.
The Educational Studies track allows you to obtain your Master's while exploring educational research, theory, and practice across diverse learning environments, with additional specialization options in Gerontology or Gender and Women's Studies. Designed for working professionals, our MEd program offers adaptable completion paths through Thesis, Portfolio, or Course options. Both study areas cater to diverse interests and are available for full-time or part-time enrollment. The faculty also houses two Canada Research Chairs (in Environmental Education and Arts Integrated Research), the Centre for Place and Sustainability Studies, the Multi-Data Convergence Laboratory, and the Canadian Journal of Environmental Education.
