Acquire the core competencies required for a thriving career as a culinary professional across diverse food service sectors. Beginning with foundational principles, learners will progress through 50 weeks of hands-on training, including daily sessions in campus kitchens, experiences at Infusions Restaurant, and cooperative work placements. The program includes a 10-week Co-op component (course CA 250), exposing students to real-world kitchen environments while familiarizing them with industry norms and professional demands. The Culinary Arts Certificate (which also serves as Year 1 of the Culinary Arts Management Diploma) caters to individuals eager to pursue careers in restaurants, food service, and hospitality. This learner-focused, industry-aligned, community-engaged 50-week (1,500-hour) program equips participants with essential culinary techniques for career success. The immersive curriculum leverages the Okanagan Valley's agricultural heritage, where students utilize produce from local farms, orchards, and vineyards - resources shaped by the region's unique geological history. Through applied learning methods, students develop practical skills by engaging in authentic culinary scenarios, working both independently and collaboratively. The program emphasizes proper methodology while encouraging creative application of course concepts through experimentation.
