Northern's Police Foundations program blends practical training with cutting-edge technology to equip you for an exciting career in law enforcement. Rooted in diversity and community service values, this two-year diploma mirrors the policing approach adopted nationwide.
The program strengthens essential job skills through interdisciplinary exercises with paramedic and firefighter trainees, preparing you for collaborative emergency response work. As a member of a dedicated student platoon, you'll train physically and master all aspects of policing alongside a consistent team.
Through Northern's extensive connections with police agencies like the OPP, Timmins Police, and Correctional Services, you'll benefit from direct professional exposure. These partnerships bring recruiters to campus and create valuable networking chances with active law enforcement personnel.
To be eligible you must possess the equivalent of an Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD).
Proof of Senior High School Diploma/Certificate.
English Proficiency (we will require one of the following): IELTS Academic International English Language Testing System a minimum overall score of 6.0 must be achieved with no individual band score under 6.0; TOEFL (Test of English as a Foreign Language) – Computer-based overall minimum score of 79; PTE (Pearson Test of English) Academic – Graduate Diploma: 58+.
