Meeting the demands of serving and protecting has never been more challenging - or fulfilling. The Police Foundations program equips you with essential skills to handle diverse situations officers face daily, while fostering crucial interpersonal, communication, and teamwork abilities. Modern policing professionals must adapt to society's evolving challenges while upholding integrity, honesty, and enthusiasm, along with maintaining physical and mental wellness. Fleming College's Police Foundations program continuously adapts to address the changing requirements of police services and their communities. Our updated curriculum reflects Ontario's growing civilian policing roles, offers specialized training for mental health-related calls, and prioritizes the most vital skill: effective communication.
We now offer pathways for students pursuing careers in law and justice who may use this program as a stepping stone for further education or non-officer roles. Students can earn their Police Foundations diploma by selecting a curriculum track focused more on civilian policing than physical fitness.
What truly distinguishes Fleming's program is our exceptional placement opportunities. Through our strong relationships with multiple police services, students gain access to diverse practicum experiences. IMPORTANT: All placements require police clearance checks. Depending on your chosen experience and police service preferences, field placements may extend beyond the standard 15-week fourth-semester period.
