The Chemistry Major provides students with comprehensive exposure to all chemistry disciplines while ensuring a strong foundation in general education and community-focused learning. The program includes an optional Analytical Biochemistry concentration, specifically designed to equip students for research roles or careers in biochemistry labs. A key aspect of this major is its emphasis on hands-on learning through laboratory coursework and Community Service Learning (CSL) initiatives. These CSL-intensive courses stand out as a hallmark of the program, fostering collaborative learning as students tackle community-relevant challenges. The curriculum aims to introduce research opportunities early for undergraduates while enabling advanced students to apply their specialized knowledge in more complex settings. This practical, team-oriented approach to problem-solving helps prepare students for professional project work they'll encounter in their careers.
