The Division of Community Health & Humanities (CHH) in the Faculty of Medicine aims to enhance societal health and wellbeing by investigating determinants of health, fostering transformative capabilities, generating innovative knowledge, conducting collaborative community research, and serving as a community resource. Its interdisciplinary programs incorporate fields like economics, epidemiology, biostatistics, health policy, medical ethics, public health, and social sciences, while upholding principles of social justice, equity, community involvement, inclusivity, diversity appreciation, and recognition of varied evidence types.
Doctor of Philosophy in Community Health (thesis-based) – PhD
This four-year, full-time PhD program requires students to complete coursework primarily in the initial 1-2 years, followed by intensive thesis research. Eligible candidates meeting academic standards receive a four-year minimum stipend. Memorial University mandates all PhD candidates to finish comprehensive examinations by their seventh semester.
